Willie Ross School for the Deaf in Longmeadow serves the central and western regions of the state both as a K-12 school with multiple campuses and with outreach services in students' home districts.  They join the Massachusetts Association of the Deaf, Purple, and Sorenson as organizational members.

We appreciate your support and are happy to partner with you in our mission to work together with the Deaf Community in meeting the interpreting needs of Massachusetts residents by enhancing the quality and availability of sign language interpreters.

    Your region needs representation!

Please consider finding a buddy and becoming a corepresetative.  We particularly encourage dyads of newer interpreters with experienced interpreters.

What does the Rep do?  Primarily, they will host regional meetings in order to distribute current MassRID information and gather regional concerns and interests.  You decide on whether that will be in person, online, some of both, or hybrid.  Minimum 2 meetings per year.  Other duties available as interested.  Regions which are seeking staffing are below.  You can find out how the regions are defined on this map of the Regions

    Central Region

    Greater Boston Region

    Southeast and Cape Cod Region

Any staff members providing educational interpreting for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in schools, including private special education schools or collaborative schools, must be registered through the MCDHH.

This includes personnel who may not be identified as interpreters but who provide sign language support services in an educational setting, including paraprofessionals, signing aides, tutors, language or communication facilitators, and others.

    How do Educational Interpreters register?

To register with MCDHH, please go to mass.gov/mcdhh and follow the link for "Educational Interpreter Registration."
